I didnt have any speakers on my home pc since I mainly use my laptop for everything but my uncle gave me this cheap speakers to use that he had laying around for a while. I plugged them in and they worked fine, at least they did the job. I just did a format to the pc and the speakers dont work. Im sure I need the driver but this speakers are the kind you can buy for like $10 on any store so they are not known or anything, they dont even have a brand. I looked on the bottom and they just have this sticker that says: MODEL: GEM2.0-USB by Diamond Audio Technology Inc.
I have googled for that but I havent been able to find anything. Could anyone help? Sounds to me like you may need to install the Motherboard's Chipset Drivers.
(?) Does Windows Device Manager show any devices that have yellow '?' Marks next to them? If so, then you are probably missing some important drivers. What is the Exact Make and Model of the PC? (If it's a 'No-Name' PC, You'll need the Make and Model of the Motherboard itself). Next, Go to the PC (or Motherboard) Manufacturer's Support Website. They should have all the necessary drivers available for Download.

HTH, -TursiopsG. Well, we don't know if they are 'good' or not, however, if they are USB speakers, then the sound card is of no issue, they need their own driver to work as a USB device! When you plug them in, if they are plug and play, they should have installed with little issue, or if not, did you not get a message alerting this as a new device, and looking for the driver?
If you plug them in (make sure that they are powered up, of course), and they are not recognized as a device, then there is something wrong. Said by: Its not that. The system doesnt even know it has speakers connected to it.

If i try to play something in WMP it says it cant because theres no sound device connected. Its a driver problem. No sound device is the sound card for the system, be it onboard audio, or a PCI sound card. First, try running Windows Update, and look under the Drivers section when it searches for updates.
You may find WU found what you need. Otherwise, if it's onboard audio, go to the MB vendor's website, and download them from there. Same for PCI card - go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers from there. It doesn't matter to a computer if speakers are attached in the back or not, it will still play a sound file. You won't HEAR it, but it will play it.
